I had the opportunity to attend the 3rd Annual Women’s Leadership Summit yesterday. WOLF@BestBuy hosted this year, and they asked me to design the HTML emails, registration website banner, signage and programs. I took the opportunity to brand this year’s event and add some consistent design elements that we could use across all of the deliverables. I don’t always get to see my event work in action, so it was wonderful to attend and participate. Representatives from a dozen Twin Cities companies were there, including Target, 3M, Cargill, US Bank, Allianz, Thompson Reuters, Medtronic, Ecolab, & Faegre Banker Daniels.
“When the student is ready,
the teacher will appear.”
Patty McPhee of Best Buy was the Keynote speaker. She shared several thoughtful, funny, and sometimes personal stories about the (sometimes accidental) mentors that were pivotal in her journey. I love the quote she shared, and the use of storytelling to relate to her audience. Everyone’s journey is unique, but we often face similar challenges and ask ourselves the same questions along the way. This reminds me of the book by Sheryl Sandberg that’s been getting a lot of attention. If you haven’t seen it, check out her video on Ted Talks:
